Search for patterns in text using regular expressions

Hi Googler,

Few times i was in need to find some pieces of code to do some stuff. Searching for some pattern in text can be easy, and this class i made makes it look neat. In this article some terms will be used, like regular expressions. This article is not going to show how to work with regular expressions ( in future text: regEx ).

Regular Expressions 

Class construction : 

This class is going to be pretty simple. It is going to have only six methods including constructor in which will some initialization happen. This class is going to have two setter methods, one for set text in which will search stuff happen, and one for pattern setting. One of methods will be search method which does not take any parameters. This class is basically heart of this class. It initializes search inside haystack text. There are also going to be two methods to return data. One to return array of results, and one to return string representation of search result. Class also contains three protected properties which are part of mechanism. I am not going to dissect every method separately because they are well explained with in-code comments and provided class documentation. Here is class source code.

You must be aware that Page Title can be set in method which we write in respective controller. Look at below syntax changes in CakePHP 1.2 and CakePHP 1.3 for setting Page Title.

Today i have implemented a Zip functionality in CakePHP. If you want to create an archive file consists of some files to give a download Zip fileoption to user than i might help you to show the steps. Below are the steps how to zip all files and save it to some folder.

$this->Zip->saveZip(“myzipfile.zip”);

First you can download the file given in link and place above file in components directory in your app/controller folder. Now you can call the function addFile for adding files in zip. Once you will call this function it will read all data from src_file. Now you can save those data to Zip file by calling saveZip function.

Problem in Mozilla Firefox-Easy AJAX Pagination Using JQuery CakePHP

Hello Friends,

I was working with CakePHP’s Easy AJAX Pagination Using JQuery. I found this as a great code for sorting and paging with jQuery inCakePHP. But i faced a problem in Mozilla Firefox. It is not working in Mozilla Firefox. While in IE and Crome it works fine for me. For Mozilla Firefox when i debug it, it shows an error like “501 Method Not Implemented”. I searched for this error and Google gives the solution likeClearing Cache and Cookie. But neither works for me. Finally i got the issue and the problem is in jQuery load function.

If you open the above link and look at jQuery load function. They have passed the second parameter as {} for data. So that was the problem in Mozilla Firefox. You can remove the {} from jQuery load function.

1) If you don’t have Google map API than
Create the one from here. (Its a free)

2) Download GoogleMapAPI.class.php Class.

3) Include GoogleMapAPI.class.php file in your web page.

4) Add these three statement. Change your Google Map API key in second statement and provide address for which you want to show Google Map in third statement.

How to remove index.php from url using .htaccess (mod_rewrite)

Hi Googler,
For better SEO optimization and make urls more search engine friendly, remove index.php from URL and make it easier to read.

Remove index.php from URL can be done by writing only two lines in your .htaccess(mod_rewrite in apache) file. Before writing this rule in .htaccess , make sure that your mod_rewrite is enabled(On) in yourapache server. Most probably mod_rewrite is enabled in Linux server but for windows server , you need to contact hosting people to make mod_rewrite enabled. You can check this by looking in phpinfo().


Below is the Rules which will remove index.php from URL using .htaccess. Look at below links for .htaccess rules.

RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9} /([^/]+/)*index.php HTTP/ 

RewriteRule ^(([^/]+/)*)index.php$ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/ [R=301,NS,L]

Redirect 301 means Moved Permanently so most search engines willremove index.php from URL.
